Each year, Threepipe nominates a charity to support through a number of fundraising activities, such as the Three Peaks Challenge which a number of us undertook last May on behalf of Great Ormond Street Hospital.
This year, we’ve chosen The Heart of Kent Hospice, which specialises in palliative care for people facing the challenge of a life limiting illness. Their team came to present to us and it’s fair to say we were all very moved by some of the work they do.
Being a sporty chap myself, and first down Snowdon last year, I wanted to do something which challenged us, both physically and mentally, and also helped us get fit in time for summer. Having thought long and hard about suitable exploits, we settled on Tough Mudder.
Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces to test strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie. It includes obstacles such as electrocution fields, ice baths, and fire walks, so it’s certainly not for the feint-hearted!
After an initial recruitment drive, eight hardcore Threepipers have signed up for what promises to be an incredibly testing challenge.
You can sponsor us through our Just Giving page, and we’ll be posting plenty of updates on how our training is going over the next eight weeks.
Wish us luck – we’ll certainly need it!
